Landlords, here’s some more good news. Research has shown, UK buyers will pay more more for an environmentally friendly property. So by investing in cleaning up your rental properties, you’ll increase the value of your assets.
Some sources have reported a premium for eco-friendly homes of up to 6%, or £15,000 on a property worth £250K. And other research has shown similar results, with buyers saying they would pay up to £10,000 more for a greener home.
And you already know that tenants are becoming more demanding in this area. They’ll ask for more, but they’ll also pay more for a property that is greener – partly because it can be cheaper for them to run. So take advantage of the UK Carbon Census to get your EPCs completed, increase the environmental efficiency of property you own, and make yourself better off at the same time.
