Save money
Saving energy is also going to save you money.
In fact, you’ll save about £200 for every tonne of CO2 you don’t emit. And we’ve seen people save £600, £700 or more per year, with just a few simple actions.
And just to be clear, we’re not talking about actions that change your lifestyle dramatically. We’re not saying sell your car, or turn out the lights. We’ll just help you identify the parts of your heat, light and hot water system that are out of date and need upgrading to a more modern, energy efficient level.
Interested in how we calculate the saving? According to the Energy Saving Trust, a Kilowatt hour of electricity generates about 500g of CO2, and a Kilowatt hour of gas about 200g. That means that at today’s prices (around 3p / KWh for gas and 12p / KWh for electricity) each tonne of CO2 you emit costs you about £200. It’s actually a bit less for gas, and a bit more for electricty, but £200 / tonne is a good rule of thumb.
